Lunken Flight Training Center has partnered with California Aeronautical University (CAU) to become an approved Reach Flight Center, offering students the opportunity to complete flight training locally while earning a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics online through CAU.
Through this collaboration, students complete flight training with LFTC while receiving academic instruction, university support services, and aviation-focused education from CAU.

University Aviation Degree Highlights
Designed for Efficient Progress
Classes are offered in a structured, year-round curriculum. Students begin flight training in the first term and can graduate with a bachelor’s degree and 6 certificates/ratings in approximately 3 years.
1,000 Hour R-ATP Program
Eligible students qualify for a restricted airline transport pilot (R-ATP) certification with only 1,000 hours, allowing them to meet airline hiring requirements sooner than pilots following some non-degree pathways.
Aviation-Focused
As a Part 141-approved, aviation-focused university, California Aeronautical University specializes exclusively in aviation education. With four locations throughout California and in Arizona, they live and breathe an aviation culture and are active participants in the aviation community.
Access to Federal Financial Aid
Federal financial aid is available to those who qualify, including scholarships, grants, and loans.
Direct Airline Pathways
California Aeronautical University is a participating university in several major and regional airline cadet pathway programs, including United Airlines and SkyWest. Study Online, Fly Locally
Offered in a hybrid format, students complete academic courses online through California Aeronautical University while completing in-person flight training at Lunken Flight Training Center.

In addition to earning a university degree, students complete the six certificates and ratings required for most commercial pilot careers, including:
